Send if SVG isn't available: High-resolution PNG or PDF. At least 1000px wide. The higher the resolution, the cleaner the engraving.
Send if you're not a designer: A clear, well-lit photo of your sketch. A screenshot of a font you like with the text typed out. A photo of your dog with a note that says "just the silhouette, please." A written description: "My initials, E and J, script font, with a small star between them."
